Harvey Milk's Bullhorn
Harvey's bullhorn is a symbol of his activism. It was used during late-night rallies in the Castro and all throughout his campaign. Today, the bullhorn is in the possession of Cleve Jones who looks after and preserves this symbol of Harvey's.

Dan White's Gun
The gun that was used in the murders of City Supervisor Harvey Milk and Mayor George Moscone went missing after it was used in the trial of Dan White, but a description given by a man boasting about having it was recorded in 2002.

Camera from Castro Camera
Harvey Milk and Scott Smith opened Castro Camera in 1972 and it was where the original gatherings of teenage activists urged Harvey to become involved in politics. One of Harvey's cameras was recovered and lies in storage at the GLBT archives.

No on 6 Poster
Also in Harvey's things collected by the the GBLT archives was a No on 6 poster telling people to vote against Proposition 6 which would have banned gay teachers in public schools.

The Assassination Tape
Harvey predicted his own death and recorded a tape which was to be played in the event of his death by assassination. After trying relentlessly to locate the original, physical tape I cannot find it but an audio copy is available on youtube.

Raising God's Children
Raising God's Children was a book written in part by Anita Bryant. An activist and strong opposition to the Gay Rights Movement, Anita capitalized on the message that homosexuals were sick and sinful. She used Christian ideology to support her claim that being gay was as wrong as thievery and should be a punishable crime. A copy of All God's Children was found in Harvey's artifacts at the GLBT archives.

"1977 San Francisco Gay Day Parade"
This photograph was taken by Marie Ueda of the Gay Day Parade in 1977. Her images reside in the Online Archive of California and several have become well-known, even being featured in Milk.

Milk vs. Briggs at Northgate High School
State Senator John Briggs was a huge opponent for Harvey in California, drafting Proposition 6, also known as the Briggs Initiative, which would have banned all openly-gay persons from holding jobs in pubic schools. They met at Northgate High School for a public debate. A physical copy of the newspaper article was dug up by a man who attended Northgate High in the University of Washington Library.
